Back in September 2022, the all-new Ford Transit Custom was officially revealed sporting not only new styling inside and out, but also, a wide array of powertrain options. The redesigned, award-winning model launched in van-happy Europe this past October, but has long been destined for other markets as well. Now, the Ford Transit Custom is officially heading to Australia later this year as well, giving customers in that market another option with loads of versatility.
When it launches in Australia this year, the Ford Transit Custom will be available in one trim – Trend – and two variants – short-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) – with an MSRP of $55,990 AUS ($37,346 USD) and $56,990 AUS ($38,013 USD), respectively. Both models are powered by the same 2.0L EcoBlue engine making 125kW (168 horsepower) and 390Nm (288 pound-feet) of torque, which is mated to the automaker’s eight-speed automatic transmission, while max towing for both models comes in at 2,500 kilograms (5,511 pounds). Payload capacity does vary, coming in at 1,269 kilograms (2,798 pounds) for the short-wheelbase Transit Custom and 1,223 kilograms (2,696 pounds) for the long-wheelbase van.
Otherwise, Australian customers can choose from a few options such as SVO paint, dual side load doors with no windows, and a total of four exterior colors – Frozen White, Agate Black, Magnetic, and Moonlit Silver, though the latter three are all extra-cost options.
“Businesses both big and small will be able to purchase the all-new Transit Custom with confidence, knowing Ford engineers have worked hard to incorporate practical, purposeful features to help them get the job done,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia. “With the new award-winning Transit Custom, we’re continuing to deliver on our promise of offering our customers the best possible commercial vehicles, whether they’re after a van, a pickup, or a full-size truck.”
