M-Sport Ford Completes Rallye Monte-Carlo On Decent Footing

After a bit of an up and down 2023 season, the M-Sport Ford rally team made quite a few changes during the off-season – most notably, another driver lineup shakeup highlighted by the departure of the highly successful Ott Tänak, along with a brand new livery and some other updates for the M-Sport Puma Rally1 racer to accompany those changes, too. All of these updates were put to their initial test as the M-Sport Ford team kicked off the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship season at Rally Monte Carlo this past weekend, and by the time the dust settled, things went relatively well for the new-look unit.

Given the dramatic changes that took place this past offseason, M-Sport Ford set a goal of simply getting its Puma racers across the finish line at Monte Carlo, all while securing some championship points to boot. It achieved that after Adrien Fourmaux and Alex Coria wound up finishing fifth overall, while Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka managed a 20th overall finish as well.

Conditions certainly threw a curveball at everyone that participated in the 2024 Rally Monte Carlo, as unseasonably warm weather meant that there wasn’t quite as much snow and ice on the track as usual. However, there was still plenty of frost and wet roads to contend with, making tire selections all the more important.

“We came here with a clear goal of getting both cars to the finish, to gain experience with the drivers and to show that we can be competitive this year,” said M-Sport Team Principal Richard Millener. “I firmly believe we achieved all of this. Both crews each scored a third fastest time and drove sensibly over what was still a tricky Monte-Carlo Rally. I am really pleased for both of them, and also the team who, as-ever, worked very hard to get us here and gave us two perfectly reliable cars.”
