Supercharging the Ford F-150 has become an increasingly popular way to make a modern-day hot rod pickup over the past few years, with numerous aftermarket outfits launching blowers for that model – a list that includes Roush, Whipple, and even Ford Performance, which just launched the supercharged Ford F-150 FP700 package last June. Now the popular pickup has gained yet another supercharger option for those that want to go fast(er), this time from Vortech.
Currently for sale at Summit Racing with a retail price of $7,733.99, this new 2021-2023 Ford F-150 Vortech supercharger kit is – like all of that company’s offerings – a centrifugal style supercharger, rather than the roots-style employed by the aforementioned companies. It’s compatible specifically with trucks equipped with the naturally-aspirated 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, and is said to increase power by as much as 40-50 percent – or around 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque on 8-10 PSI of boost with 91 octane or better pump gas in the tank.
This new Vortech Ford F-150 supercharger kit includes the company’s V-3 Si-Trim supercharger with a 3.4-inch drive pulley, a supercharger mounting bracket assembly with idlers, drive belt, and all the required hardware for installation, an air-to-air charger cooler assembly with an aluminum cooler core, three-inch mandrel-bent aluminum discharge tubes, silicone sleeves, and stainless steel clamps, a compressor bypass valve, an air inlet and discharge assemblies with 3.5-inch aluminum tubing, silicone sleeves, and stainless steel clamps, and a high-flow, roto-molded air ducting that fits the stock air box and some aftermarket cold air intake kits.
Available in natural, polished, and black finishes, Vortech’s 2021+ Ford F-150 supercharger kit requites a custom tune to function properly and extract the most power, and the kit is not emissions-legal. However, it does add another enticing option to the market, and should appeal to at least some F-150 owners out there.

If it is not emission legal, then how can it be sold?
