2021-2022 Ford E-Series Recalled Over Power Steering Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2022 Ford E-Series E-350 and E-450 vehicles with dual rear wheels over an issue with the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line. Vehicles in this recall were previously recalled for the same issue back in 2022, and owners will need to have this new remedy completed even if their vehicle was repaired under the prior recall.

The defect: in affected vehicles, an inadequate connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake hydroboost unit may result in a sudden loss of power steering fluid.

The hazards: a sudden loss of power steering fluid can result in a loss of power steering and power brake assist, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition.

Components: power steering pressure line and hydroboost jumper line.

Affected vehicles: select 2021-2022 Ford E-Series E-350 and E-450 vehicles with dual rear wheels built at the Ford Ohio Assembly plant between May 11th, 2019, through June 17th, 2021.

Number of vehicles affected: 16,543 vehicles.

The fix: dealers will replace the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which are expected to begin on March 25th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S07.
