2022-2023 Ford Maverick Recalled Over Instrument Panel Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022-2023 Ford Maverick models over an issue with the instrument panel.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the instrument panel cluster may not properly illuminate warning lights or gauges. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, “Control and Displays,” and 102, “Transmission shift position sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect” as well as FMVSS numbers 105, 108, and 208.

The hazards: an instrument panel that does not illuminate critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2023 Ford Maverick models produced at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant from February 3rd, 2021, to October 20th, 2023.

Number of vehicles affected: 62,813

The fix: dealers will update the instrument panel cluster software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on March 18th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24C01.

  1. I was told a whole new instrument cluster was needed to replace the old one, and it would take at least a week to do, as they have to keep my truck so the odometer does not change. Is this true? My notice (like it’s mentioned above) only states a software update, not a new cluster replacement.
