2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Up For Auction

The 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition was officially revealed back in November 2021, a special machine that was designed specifically to pay homage to the original 1967 model. Shortly thereafter, the S550-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 bowed out – a year before the rest of the pony car lineup – making way for the all-new, S650-generation 2024 Mustang, losing the optional Carbon Fiber Handling Package and its pricey wheels in the process. Now, this 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, where it should hammer for big bucks, we’d imagine.

With just 882 miles on the clock, this 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition is essentially new, having lived its life thus far under one owner in Texas. Like all Heritage Editions, this one is finished in Brittany Blue Metallic, in this case, with the optional Wimbledon White vinyl side and over-the-top stripes. Otherwise, it’s pretty much standard fare with features including a manually adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing and exposed carbon-fiber 20-inch seven-spoke wheels wrapped with 305/30 front and 315/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Meanwhile, the Carbon Fiber Track Pack adds a host of other goodies including the aforementioned spoiler and wheels, along with adjustable strut top mounts. Underneath, one will find a four-wheel independent suspension and a MagneRide damping system, plus six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brake calipers with two-piece ventilated rotors. Inside, this pony car came with the rear seat delete and Ebony leather Recaro front seats with Miko sueded inserts and Dove accents.

One of the biggest draws of the S550 GT500, however, is what lies under the hood – the supercharged Ford 5.2L V8 Predator engine, which cranks out 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the rear wheels via a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential with 3.73 gears, making this a solid performer – and a cool collector’s item, to boot.
