Hertz and Shelby have long enjoyed a prosperous relationship, churning out a variety of “Rent-a-Racer” models over the past several decades. That partnership continued with the introduction of the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H years ago, a model that was built in very limited quantities, which is precisely why we rarely see them pop up for sale today. However, a supremely low-mile 2016 Shelby GT-H hit the auction block last summer, and just last month, a 2022 Ford Shelby GT-H coupe went up for sale as well. Now, those two have been joined by another 2022 Ford Shelby GT-H – this time, a convertible that’s set to be auctioned off at Mecum’s upcoming Glendale, Arizona auction.
With just 15 miles showing on the odometer, this Rapid Red Metallic 2022 Ford Shelby GT-H convertible with matte gold stripes is essentially brand new. In fact, it has reportedly never been driven on the street, nor has it left the possession of Shelby American since it was built. That’s particularly notable since these models were part of the Hertz Executive Collection, and as such, most were rented out and potentially abused, though that certainly isn’t the case here.
Even better, this particular GT-H is one of just two convertibles and four total units produced with a Shelby/Whipple supercharger – coupled with a Borla exhaust, a large intercooler, and beefed-up cooling system – which helps its 5.0L V8 Coyote engine crank out a whopping 825 horsepower, which in this case flows to the rear wheels via the 10-speed automatic transmission. It also has a set of G-Force 1,500 horsepower axles to ensure that it can put that power to the ground without breaking, too.
Inside the cabin, one will also find touches like a CSM numbered dash plaque and engine plate, boost pressure and oil pressure gauges, Shelby leather seat covers, embroidered floor mats, and illuminated door sill plates, all of which helps it stand out in the sea of pony cars out there. Given those features and its inherent rarity, we have no doubt this GT-H will conjure up plenty of interest when it crosses the auction block in a few weeks.
