Ford E-Transit Officially Heads To Brazil Next Month

The ever-popular Ford E-Transit has thus far proven to be a hot commodity among commercial customers looking to decrease their operating costs, prompting FoMoCo to ramp up production of its EV van. At the same time, the Ford E-Transit continues to expand its global reach by entering new markets, which will soon include the South American countries of Brazil and Argentina, where the regular ICE Transit has already become a smash hit as more and more variants continue to populate the lineup. Now, Ford has announced that the E-Transit is officially set launch in Brazil next month, continuing that expansion.

The Ford E-Transit will go on sale in Brazil at the end of March, specifically, following the conclusion of a test program that’s currently being conducted in partnership with a handful of large fleet companies there that originally kicked off back in 2022. In South America, that includes more than ten companies from Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, mainly from the logistics and e-commerce sector with medium and large fleets, which have accumulated over 60,000 kilometers in real operating conditions.

The Ford E-Transit will not only be sold in the van configuration that’s currently being tested in South America, but also as a chassis cab, giving customers more flexibility in that regard. Both versions are equipped with a 198 kW (269 horsepower) electric motor, and offer up to 317 kilometers of driving range on the WLTP cycle.

“The arrival of E-Transit is another important step in the expansion and diversification of our product line to continue the growth of Ford Pro, always focused on offering maximum profitability for the customer’s business,” said Guillermo Lastra, director of Commercial Vehicles at Ford South America. “Our sales volume of commercial vehicles in Brazil has grown 60 percent in the last 24 months. And we added more than 5,200 units in 2023, considering light commercials and work pickups. This year, the plan is to continue growing, incorporating more news into our portfolio of products and services.”
