Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator Recalled Over Seat Belt Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2018-2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs over an issue with seat belts.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may inadvertently deploy and lock the seat belt, which will not allow the belt to retract or extend.

The hazards: seat belts that do not retract or extend may fail to restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: seat belt retractors

Affected vehicles: select 2018-2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models built at the Kentucky Truck plant between October 1st, 2018, and June 30th, 2019.

Number of vehicles affected: 77,574

The fix: dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractors, as necessary. Additionally, dealers will install an HVAC drain tube elbow if it is missing, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on March 4th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S06.
