Ford F-150 Hybrid Among Top 20 Cars Priced Below MSRP

The Ford F-150 hybrid – or PowerBoost, as it’s otherwise known – debuted for the 2021 model year to tremendous demand that CEO Jim Farley later admitted “surprised” the company. However, that demand was met with adequate supply even in tough times for the automotive industry, which helped keep the truck priced pretty close to MSRP, at least compared to much of its competition. Now, with The Blue Oval’s inventory levels ranking far above the industry average, it seems as if the Ford F-150 hybrid has gotten even cheaper, according to new data from iSeeCars.

In fact, in its latest study, iSeeCars found that the Ford F-150 hybrid ranked third on the list of vehicles priced below or close to MSRP, thanks to the 3.3 percent difference between its $82,132 average sales price and $84,910 average MSRP. In that regard, the electrified pickup trailed only a pair of EVs – the Hyundai Kona Electric and Volkswagen ID.4 – which were listed, on average, at 4.6 percent and 3.6 percent below MSRP. Now, with the 2024 Ford F-150 offering its hybrid powertrain as a no-cost option over the standard twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost, buyers are already looking at some appealing lease and financing deals on the refreshed pickup as well.

While there are some obvious exceptions to this rule, overall, iSeeCars found that the average new vehicle is priced at 7.2 percent above MSRP, a drop from 8.9 percent above MSRP a year ago. To come up with this data, the organization analyzed the pricing of over 16 million new vehicle sales that took place between January 2023 and January 2024.

“While finding a discount on a new vehicle remains a challenge, it’s much easier for EV, large truck, and SUV shoppers,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “The market appears to have reached a saturation point for electric vehicles, with both prices and sales struggling compared to a year ago. The high cost of full-size trucks and SUVs, along with the cost of fueling them in the face of inflation and reduced consumer spending power, has dampened demand for these notoriously pricey vehicles.”
