The recently-refreshed Ford Kuga has long been a popular entity among European new vehicle shoppers, having previously ranked as that region’s 19th best-selling new vehicle in 2022, while the PHEV version was also Europe’s most popular plug-in hybrid of 2023, too. In 2023, the crossover continued its success yet again by ranking among the top 50 best-selling European vehicles of 2023 as well, joining the Ford Puma in that regard.
While the Puma continues to move up the European sales charts by most recently ranking as that region’s 11th best-selling new vehicle, the Ford Kuga trailed a bit behind and slid down to the 26th spot with 123,268 sales – a three percent decrease, year-over-year. However, as Ford Authority recently reported, the Kuga is being treated to a refresh that mimics a recent mid-cycle action for its American counterpart – the Escape – which should help keep it fresh moving forward. Regardless, this result ranks the Ford Kuga behind a number of its rivals, many of which enjoyed sales increases over the past year.
In fact, in terms of the overall European new vehicle market, sales reached their highest level since the pre-pandemic years, totaling 12,792,151 units in 2023 – a year-over-year increase of 14 percent – all while EV sales, in particular, surpassed the two million unit mark for the very first time as well.
“Europe’s automotive market appears to be normalizing,” said Felipe Munoz, Global Analyst at JATO Dynamics. “Supply chain issues are now largely under control, and consumers have become accustomed to waiting longer to receive new vehicles. Despite this, it is unlikely we will see volumes surpass the 15 million units recorded in 2019. Purchasing a vehicle has become more expensive, and attitudes to ownership continue to change.”
We’ll have more on the Kuga soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Kuga news and continuous Ford news coverage.

Kuga drops in the ranking because the offer does not include a petrol engine with an automatic transmission (There is only an expensive hybrid)
Gentlemen, why is there no 1.5 engine with an automatic transmission in Europe???!!!
