Since its launch, Consumer Reports and its members have lavished plenty of praise on the Ford Maverick Hybrid, naming it one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on sale, a top pick with a price tag of less than $35k, and one of the most satisfying vehicles available today – not just once, or twice, but three times, in fact. Now, the Ford Maverick Hybrid has once again been recognized by Consumer Reports, this time, as one of the best vehicles on sale today with some of the lowest ownership costs in its class.
To come up with this list, Consumer Reports once again looked to its owner surveys – but this time, it didn’t just lean on overall scores. Instead, it looked at some specific owner questions from the survey, including how satisfied they are in terms of in-cabin comfort, storage space, driving enjoyment, ownership costs, and how easy the infotainment system is to use. This means that models didn’t necessarily have to achieve a high overall score to be named as a satisfying vehicle to own.
In that regard, the Ford Maverick Hybrid ranked as one of the most satisfying vehicles on the market in the specific area of ownership costs, topping the compact pickup segment at the same time. Consumer Reports noted that Ford Maverick Hybrid owners praised their vehicles’ fuel economy specifically, with one noting that “being able to get 40 miles-per-gallon makes it perfect for my job.”
The results from this latest study stem from Consumer Reports‘ 2023 Annual Auto Surveys, which collected data from more than 330,000 vehicles from the 2021-2024 model years. As is always the case, owner satisfaction is based on the percentage of survey respondents that answer the question of whether or not they’d buy their vehicle again if given the chance with “definitely yes,” with a higher percentage indicating a higher level of satisfaction.

As a Ford Fusion Hybrid owner for ten years with no problems, I know the satisfaction that the Maverick truck owners enjoy. Pleade, Ford, bring back a hybrid sedan even better than the Fusion!!
Maverick & Ranger are best in class trucks. Everyone builds a good truck these days. No easy feat staying on top. Kudos Ford Motor!
The Escape Hybrid is excellent as well. Though not a sedan its similar in size & practicality. NYC & Vegas taxi companies are very fond of these an been known to rack up 400k mis+ .
