Since it launched a couple of years ago, the Ford Maverick has earned a considerable number of accolades, winning multiple Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards, as well as landing on Consumer Reports‘ list of the Top 10 Picks of 2023, earning the title of the most satisfying pickup of 2024, and being named one of the best picks of any vehicle priced under $35k. Now, the Ford Maverick has also made the cut as one of Consumer Reports’ Top 10 Picks of 2024 as well, continuing its success in terms of collecting critical acclaim.

Each year, CR analyzes the hundreds of new vehicle models on sale and narrows them down to just 10 of what it calls its “Top Picks,” which it determines based on a number of factors that include road testing results, owner satisfaction, predicted reliability, and safety, coupled with standard features such as automatic emergency braking. The results, at least this year, are quite diverse, covering a variety of price points and segments, too.
This year, both the Ford Maverick and Maverick Hybrid made the cut with overall scores of 78 and 77, respectively, ranking as the top two small pickups as well. CR praised the Maverick’s “civilized ride, maneuverability, simple step-in access, fuel economy, and low price,” along with an interior that’s “roomy and practical, with good legroom and headroom in the front and back for such a small vehicle.”
“The controls are easy to use, and convenient spots for storage are placed throughout,” CR added. “The hybrid stands out for its terrific fuel efficiency and added refinement. The Maverick is a high-value offering that puts the ‘fun’ in functional,” the organization concluded.
