Ford Puma Officially Discontinued In Australia

As is the case in other parts of the world, Ford Australia has been in the midst of an extensive lineup makeover recently, with new products there including the Ford F-150 (which is being converted to right-hand-drive by a third-party), the Ford Tourneo van, the Transit Custom, the redesigned 2024 Ford Mustang, and the all-new Ford Ranger – which claimed the sales crown in that country last year, too. However, in a slightly surprising move, it seems as if the Ford Puma will no longer be sold in Australia moving forward, according to CarExpert – an announcement that comes on the eve of the debut of the refreshed version of that crossover for Europe.

While the all-electric version of the Ford Puma – dubbed the Puma Gen-E – will apparently be sold in Australia following its debut later this year, the gas-powered variant is no more for that market. Existing orders for the crossover will be filled, but after May, no more Pumas will be shipped to Australia as FoMoCo continues to revamp its lineup there. According to The Blue Oval, this decision is being made to “make way for growth opportunities in Ford’s broadest ever Transit and Mustang range.”

“Our focus is on vehicles and in segments where we can really meet the unique needs of Australian customers,” said Ford Australia president and CEO Andrew Birkic. “We see particular opportunities in commercial vehicles – from Transit to E-Transit, Transit Custom to E-Transit Custom, alongside Ranger.”

“We will also continue to focus on our performance line-up – from Mustang and Mustang Dark Horse, to Mustang Mach-E and Ranger Raptor – alongside a renewed emphasis on vehicles that help customers do the things they love, like towing a boat or caravan in an F-150, off-roading with friends in an Everest, or road-tripping with a large family in a Tourneo. We have not taken this decision lightly and thank the many loyal customers who have chosen Puma over the years.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
