Coming off a refresh for the 2023 model year, the Lincoln Corsair faced its fair share of production issues early last year, right alongside its mass market counterpart, the Ford Escape, largely due to issues discovered early in the process pertaining to the software in its digital instrument cluster. However, FoMoCo soon had that sorted out and production at the Louisville Assembly plant ramped up shortly thereafter, though it did plummet in November before rebounding in December to close out the calendar year. Now, according to Ford’s latest sales report, Lincoln Corsair production managed to stay mostly flat in January to start the new year, too.
In November, Lincoln Corsair production dropped 59 percent month-over-month, totaling just 1,806 units versus 4,381 in October – the crossover’s fourth-lowest total of 2023. However, things improved somewhat in December, as a grand total of 3,063 Lincoln Corsair models rolled off the assembly line at the Louisville plant – a month-over-month increase of 1,257 units or nearly 70 percent.
In January, Lincoln Corsair production totaled 3,035 units, which is an ever-so-slight decrease of just 28 units month-over-month, or a mere 0.9 percent. However, its counterpart fared much better in January, as Ford Escape production at the Louisville Assembly plant totaled 15,723 units, which is 1,987 units or nearly 14.5 percent more than December, and is also the that model’s highest production total since October 2023, marking its second straight month of growth.
However, while the Escape received a few notable updates for the 2024 model year, that isn’t the case with its more luxurious twin. In fact, the 2024 Lincoln Corsair carries over completely unchanged, and it will even retain its factory-installed SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, a feature that is now a dealer-installed option only for the Escape.
