The Ford E-Series is one of the longer running nameplates in automotive history, but isn’t exactly what one might call collectible – at least not in a traditional sense. Rather, we’ve seen lots of unique E-Series builds pop up for sale at collector car auctions as of late, a list that includes everything from a very cool 1996 Ford E-150 conversion van to a replica of the “Mutt Cutts” van that starred in the comedy classic Dumb and Dumber. For those looking for something a bit older and perhaps slightly more retro on terms of style, this ultra-cool 1991 Ford E-150 Sportsmobile conversion van is now up for grabs at Cars & Bids, too.
With just 66k miles on the clock and a California ownership history, this Ford E-150 Sportsmobile van remains in stellar condition, with just the typical scuffs and chips marring its white and blue finish. As part of its conversion, Sportsmobile gave the van features like a manual pop-top, cloth and vinyl upholstery, a rear folding bench seat/bed, air conditioning, a living area heating system, a sink with a water heater, a propane stove top, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and various other cool amenities.
There are even more notable features worth mentioning here, including wood trim, overhead lights, cupboards and drawers, power outlets, and vinyl flooring, making this Ford E-150 a suitable mobile living space. Additionally, the seller went to the trouble of adding a newer Alpine stereo, a CB radio, and dash mounts to this do-it-all vessel.
This vintage van is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.8L V8, which was factory-rated to produce 210 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. In decent shape and loaded with cool features, we have to imagine that this E-150 will generate significant interest at auction – especially in today’s van-hungry world.
We’ll have more cool auction finds to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford E-Series news and continuous Ford news coverage.
