Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2017-2019 Ford Super Duty pickups due to an issue with the headlights.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the headlights may be too bright, exceeding the maximum light output allowed which may adversely affect the vision of drivers. As such, these headlights fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
The hazards: excessive glare or brightness to oncoming drivers increases the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this issue.
Components: headlights sold as replacement parts for 2017-2019 Super Duty vehicles.
Affected vehicles: select 2017-2019 Ford Super Duty pickups with replacement headlights that were produced between May 5th, 2021, and December 30th, 2021.
Number of vehicles affected: 1,505
The fix: dealers will inspect the date codes on the headlights and if necessary, replace them, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will be begin on April 15th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24C04.
