2024 Ford F-150 Lightning EVs Stashed In Dearborn: Live Pics

As Ford Authority reported in late February, thousands of 2024 Ford F-150 and 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups have been stashed at the automaker’s Dearborn-based test track – and various other sites in the area – for some time now. We later learned that there are some very good reasons for this – in the case of the F-150 Lightning, FoMoCo discovered an issue with the EV pickup’s headlights, and issued a stop-ship while it worked to rectify that problem. As for the 2024 Ford F-150, The Blue Oval was merely working through its routine quality checks before shipping the refreshed model to dealers. Now, Ford Authority has spotted a number of 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups stored throughout the Dearborn area.

Production of the 2024 Ford F-150 and F-150 Lightning has been underway since December – slowly inching upward as the months go by – while deliveries of the ICE variant just began late last month. However, as for the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning, the automaker hasn’t set a deadline for when it might lift that model’s stop-ship – which was implemented back on February 9th – but previously noted that this won’t happen until it’s confident that all potential quality issues have been resolved.

In the meantime, this means that a large number of 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups will continue to be stored at various locations around the Dearborn area, as we can see here. At the same time, existing F-150 Lightning inventory remains at a high level, as Ford Authority reported in January, though the automaker has already cut its planned output for the 2024 model year in half.

The F-150 Lightning is undergoing some notable updates for the 2024 model year, however, including the debut of two new variants – the Flash – which combines a bevy of popular features in a model with a reasonable price tag – and the Platinum Black, which is the first production Ford truck to feature a matte wrap, coupled with various blacked-out features.

The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup is also receiving a heat pump as standard equipment across the lineup, while the Lariat trim will add an option for ActiveX seating at some point in the future if standard leather becomes unavailable due to supply chain constraints.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
