Brazil has long had an affinity for the Ford Mustang – much like the rest of the world – having scooped up the pony car in throes when the S550 Mach 1 became available in the South American country a few years ago. Earlier this month, the very first units of the next-generation 2024 Ford Mustang GT Performance model arrived in that same country, and earlier this week, the brand new pony car officially went on sale there. However, it didn’t take long for the first batch of Brazilian 2024 Ford Mustang GT Performance models to sell out, the automaker has revealed.
This initial shipment of 2024 Mustang models consisted of 150 units in Brazil, and every one of them was spoken for in just an hour. “This result shows the great strength of the Mustang and the accuracy of the improvements introduced in the new generation, with advances in performance, technology, and design. It is a car that connects in a very powerful way with the fans, as evidenced by the speed with which the first batch sold out,” said Pedro Resende, director of Sales and Network at Ford Brazil.
The 2024 Ford Mustang GT Performance model is, in fact, the only one available in Brazil, which means that it comes equipped with an array of desirable equipment. That starts with what’s under the hood – the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which in this guise generates 488 horsepower, and it’s mated exclusively to the 10-speed automatic transmission, along with the Remote Rev feature, which FoMoCo’s Brazilian engineering team helped develop.
Other notable mechanical upgrades include the MagneRide suspension system, stabilizer bars taken from the last-gen Mach 1, Brembo brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, and unique wheels wrapped with P-Zero 255/40 R19 tires up front and 275/40 R19 in the rear. The Brazilian 2024 Ford Mustang GT Performance is available in eight colors – Zadar Red, Arizona Red, Estoril Blue, Algarve Blue, Arctic White, Torres Gray, Catalonia Gray, and Asturias Black – and features a starting price of R$529,000 ($106,235 USD), with initial deliveries of these 150 units expected to begin in June.
