Following the arrival of the all-new Ford Ranger in several international markets, the redesigned pickup debuted for North America way back in May 2023. At that time, The Blue Oval stated that the 2024 Ford Ranger was scheduled to launch in the U.S. last summer – at least models equipped with the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost, with variants packing the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost expected to follow suit in the fall. However, now that we’re well into March 2024, a number of 2024 Ford Ranger pickups continue to be built at the Michigan Assembly plant – and yet, none have been sold as of yet, according to the automaker’s February 2024 sales report.
In January, a grand total of 2,644 2024 Ford Ranger pickups were built at MAP, which represented an increase of 2,242 units, or 558 percent, compared to December 2023. That number grew to 2,871 units in February – an increase of 227 units, or around 8.6 percent. More surprising, Ford sold precisely zero Rangers last month, meaning that the supply of 2023 models seems to be depleted, and there simply aren’t any new 2024 models on lots as of yet.
While it’s unclear why this is the case, it stands to reason that Ford could be conducting quality checks on 2024 Ranger pickups before shipping them to dealers and customers, as it has done with several recently refreshed or redesigned models. In fact, the automaker stored hundreds or perhaps even thousands of 2024 Ford F-150 pickups for this same reason recently, and issued a stop-ship for 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning models after it discovered an problem with the headlights.
Quality reviews also impacted the launch of the all-new 2024 Ford Mustang last year when some issues needed to be ironed out, a process that began with the redesigned 2023 Ford Super Duty – though those quality checks and resulting fixes reportedly cost the automaker a whopping $1 billion.

Wow comment with bad issue on sales not accep
ted by Ford authority
Again I dare Ford to price the Ranger correctly and watch sales increase.
hope the wait for that 2.7 is worth it. Ford still won’t let you configure the truck with that engine option
The gen2 – 2.7L GTDI V6 is outstanding an proven. Definitely worth the wait!
We ordered our 2024 Ranger 9 months ago and our dealer has no clue what to expect for delivery. We were told we could expect it last August. Then the strike but still no idea about a delivery date. Ford is missing out on potential clients and facing competition
Same here, also ordered in August. Thinking about canceling my order and contacting Toyota. I checked, they actually have Tacoma’s on the lot. Not the color I want, waiting to see how long if ordered.
So much news and praise of the international Ranger, including accolades, awards, etc. But hardly a peep about them in the US. I get that the F150 is Ford’s bread and butter, but there’s clearly a market for mid-sizers here, and I wish Ford portrayed even the slightest of appearances of being proud of the Rangers. Ranger just seems like an afterthought here… IMHO.
There is a diesel version available in Australia. Why not here??
Inwonder if they are as bad as the F150s issues cam phasers and transmissions.. I would hope people would at least look long and hard before making the fatal mistake of purchasing a Ford
The class leading F150 absolutely does not suffer from cam phaser issues or transmission probs. Completely inaccurate & nonsensical in every regard. Let me guess your a Chevy or RAM salesperson? 😆
It would be nice if Ford could be honest about what is really on with the Ranger. You can’t even communicate with your dealers anymore and they are as in the dark as the customers. So wrong – shame on you Ford.
Let’s see…Ranger, Frontier…Ranger, Frontier…hmmmm… Yep, going for the Frontier. I want a truck that’s going to be reliable and the Ranger ain’t it.
If reliability is your priority, you’d get a Tacoma.
What are you even talking about. The 2025 is the redesign and I’ve 2024 on the lot. Maybe you just didn’t get the sales number reported, but they are out and not in some secret bunker somewhere
I hope the PHEV Ranger comes to the U.S. soon. I really don’t want to switch to a Tacoma, but may be forced by Ford to do just that.
