2025 Toyota 4Runner Teased As Upcoming Ford Bronco Rival

Toyota has been a on a roll in terms of launching new products as of late, ranging from the next-generation Tundra to the all-new Tacoma and – most recently – revamping the Land Cruiser for the U.S., too. That means that the Toyota 4Runner is easily one of the oldest models in its current lineup, as the current fifth-generation model debuted way back in 2009 for the 2010 model year. Regardless, the rugged SUV and Ford Bronco rival remains a hot seller for the Japanese automaker, and we’ve been expecting the arrival of an all-new model for some time now. Now, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner has been officially teased for the first time, giving us a sneak peek at what to expect from the forthcoming redesign.

This 2025 Toyota 4Runner teaser pays homage to the original model and each iteration since, culminating with a closeup shot of a portion of the SUV’s revised rear end. There are a few notable takeaways here, including the fact that the 4Runner badge has been relocated from beneath the Toyota badge to directly above the bumper, and it’s sporting a new font, to boot. Otherwise, everything here is new, from the tailgate to the taillights and the shape of the rear bumper.

Expected to be based on the also-all-new 2024 Tacoma, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner should be similar in size to the outgoing model, and will also reportedly gain the same pure ICE and hybrid powerplant options, to boot. As for its rival – the Ford Bronco – that rugged SUV was also expected to receive a refresh for the 2025 model year, though that no longer appears to be happening, and for now, no electrified powerplant is available, either. In terms of sales, the 4Runner continues to dominate the mid-size off-road SUV segment with a 42 percent share as of the end of Q4 2023, outselling the Bronco and Jeep Wrangler by a large margin even in spite of its advanced age.
