Like many Blue Oval models, the Ford Bronco Sport has experienced its fair share of ups and downs in terms of production output over the past few months. In December, Ford Bronco Sport production increased by 1,609 units or around 14.6 percent versus November, helping it close out the month with 12,559 total units of production, and that momentum continued in January, resulting in an increase of 16.6 percent to 14,639 units. However, production of the Ford Bronco Sport at the Hermosillo Assembly plant wound up decreasing in February – according to the automaker’s latest sales report – which mimics movement by the Ford Maverick, a model that’s produced at the same facility.
In a month where Maverick production dipped 12 percent to 14,316 units, Ford Bronco Sport production also declined by nearly three percent, to 14,221 units. That’s a rather small decrease of 418 crossovers, but regardless, it’s a notable one given the fact that FoMoCo has invested in Hermosillo recently with intentions of ramping up production.
Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport has been treated to a few notable updates in the crossover’s fourth year of production. For starters, the Heritage Limited has been dropped from the lineup, along with the entry-level Base trim, though Ford has also added two other interesting variants for the new model year – the Black Appearance Package and the retro-themed Free Wheeling model.
Additionally, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport lineup has dropped its factory-installed keyless entry keypad, instead making it a dealer-installed option, along with its windshield wiper de-icer. As is usually the case with model year transitions, the 2024 Bronco Sport marks a few changes to its available exterior color palette, ditching a grand total of four choices as well – though at least a couple have been replaced by new hues.
