Ford Escape Production Decreased In February 2024

Production of the refreshed 2023 Ford Escape got off to a slow start last year due to a software issue with the crossover’s digital instrument cluster, but steadily ramped up throughout the rest of the year. With production of the 2024 Ford Escape kicking off at the Louisville Assembly plant in November, those numbers did take a bit of a dip that month, however, going from 20,018 units in October to 8,618 units – a decrease of 11,400 units, or 57 percent. Escape production bounced back in December, increasing to 13,736 units, and in January, that figure grew even higher, to 15,723 units. However, Ford Escape production at the Louisville plant did decrease slightly in February, according to FoMoCo’s latest sales report.

In the second month of 2024, Ford Escape production at the Louisville Assembly plant totaled 15,472 units, which is a mere 251 units or roughly 1.6 percent percent fewer than January. Regardless, such a nominal drop isn’t terribly notable, particularly since January marked the crossover’s best month of production since October 2023.

For the 2024 model year, the Escape has only been treated to a few minor updates following its 2023 refresh, as is typically the case. For starters, the Base trim has become a fleet-only offering, leaving the new Active model as the entry-level offering in the lineup. Additionally, the SecuriCode keyless entry keypad has been dropped from the lineup (but is still available as a dealer-installed option), and the factory navigation option has been reduced from three years to one.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Escape is gaining just one new exterior paint color for the new model year – Race Red – which is exclusively available on the new Active and fleet-only Base trim. However, this new color comes at the cost of two other color options that have been deleted from the lineup as part of the model year changeover – Cinnabar Red Metallic and Atlas Blue Metallic.
