Ford EV Referral Program Launched In Select Markets

Following a period of time when it was difficult to find a new Ford EV priced at or under sticker, things have changed dramatically as of late. With demand waning somewhat over the last few months of 2023, inventory has continued to grow, to the point where Ford has introduced a number of discounts and various incentives for its all-electric lineup. Now, those efforts continue, as the automaker has now launched a new Ford EV referral program in select markets, according to CarsDirect.

This new Ford EV referral program is officially called the Model E Customer Referral Program Private Offer, and it offers customers $500 off the MSRP of a 2023 or 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning. The offer launched on March 4th, and is slated to run through July 1st, 2024. For now at least, the offer is limited to Ford EVs purchased or leased in California, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Washington, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New York.

According to a dealer bulletin, the “voluntary Ford EV Referral Program Pilot (Program) is a $500 Open Bonus Cash (OBC) incentive opportunity for eligible customers,” enabling people to act as “advocates” who can provide shoppers with a “valid private offer certificate with a unique private offer code,” much the same way a typical referral program works. Ford notes that the intention of the offer is to “help increase traffic and sales of EVs with new customers, while collecting feedback and learnings for a potential program expansion.”

This new offer comes on the heels of some rather large price cuts for the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E lineup, and the EV crossover has also received some new incentives and special financing rates as the automaker works to move some existing inventory. Interestingly, however, the 2024 F-150 Lightning lineup recently received a price increase for most trims, even as inventory remains high across the U.S.
