Having been around for a long time now – and helping to spark the SUV/crossover craze in the U.S. to begin with – the Ford Explorer has also long been a favorite of both used and new vehicle shoppers, too. In fact, the Ford Explorer recently ranked as one of the most popular used SUVs of 2023 and one of the top used vehicles overall in research conducted by iSeeCars, as well as one of the most-searched used vehicles by Consumer Reports. Thus, it isn’t terribly surprising to learn that the Ford Explorer is also among the top 10 vehicles that remain in operation on U.S. roads, according to Experian’s recently released Q4 2023 Automotive Market Trends Report.
The Ford Explorer closed out last year by accounting for 1.2 percent of all used vehicles currently on U.S. roads, which ties it with the Nissan Altima, GMC Sierra 1500, Ram 1500, and Chevy Equinox. The Explorer ranked behind only the Ford F-150 – which has dominated this list for several years now – along with the Chevy Silverado 1500, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Honda CR-V, Toyota Corolla, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Tacoma, and Ford Escape.
The Explorer also managed to beat out a wide variety of popular models spanning essentially every segment of the automotive landscape, a list that includes the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Super Duty, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Rogue, Ford Fusion, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Silverado 2500HD, Toyota Tundra, and Subaru Outback – a pretty interesting who’s who list of the vehicles that Americans prefer the most in recent years.
We’ll have more on the Ford Explorer soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Explorer news and comprehensive Ford news updates.
