Earlier this week, the European Ford Explorer EV became the first all-electric vehicle to circumvent the globe following a six-month-long journey with travel influencer Lexie Alford behind the wheel. It was an historic occasion for certain, and one that was successfully capped off as the duo crossed the proverbial finish line in Cologne, Germany, which is precisely where the Ford Explorer EV will be produced starting this summer – at the recently retooled Cologne Electrification Center. However, Alford and her EV crossover weren’t alone, as they were joined by a host of very cool Blue Oval models as well.

That group consisted of a whopping 26 vehicles in total, several of which Ford CEO Jim Farley posted photos of on Instagram recently. The eclectic lineup included a replica of the 1912 Model T that Aloha Wanderwell famously drove across the globe decades ago – which served as the inspiration for this trip – along with a 2017 Ford GT, a 1969 GT40 Mk3, a 1986 RS200 police car, a 1965 Ford Transit Mk1, a 1977 Ford Fiesta Mk1, a 1965 Lotus Cortina Mk1, a 1970 Ford Cortina Mk2 1600E, and a Ford Mustang Mach-E.
Meanwhile, the Explorer EV has been on a separate tour of its own, visiting multiple dealers across the UK recently, while a red example participated in the world-famous Rose Monday Parade in Cologne as well. The new Ford Explorer EV is currently slated to launch this coming August, giving those in Europe the chance to bring home one of their own, too. However, it won’t be alone for long, as the new electrified crossover will soon be joined by another – also built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform – which may be called the Capri.
