Last September, travel influencer Lexie Alford – or Lexie Limitless, as she’s otherwise known – began a historic trip across the world behind the wheel of a Ford Explorer EV prototype. Marking the 100-year anniversary of Aloha Wanderwell’s own trip that saw her become the first woman to drive around the world in a Model T, Alford began her own journey in Nice, France, and has since been working on crossing six continents and over 30 countries, which – when completed – will see her become the first person to circumnavigate the globe in an electric vehicle. Now, the Ford Explorer EV and Alford are set to enter their final stage of that trip, which will see both travel back to Europe.
Thus far, that same duo have visited places such as Asia, South America, Africa, Australia, and – most recently – the United States, which is rather interesting given the fact that the MEB-based crossover isn’t slated to be sold there. Regardless, while crossing America, Alford visited places including Chicago, Detroit, and New York City before heading back across the sea to Europe.
Now, Alford and her Ford Explorer EV prototype are set to arrive in Norway, with their final destination set where it all began – in Nice, France. Along the way, the pair will visit places like Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, all before finishing this six-month-long trip in true style.
Meanwhile, the Explorer EV has been on a separate tour of its own, visiting multiple dealers across the UK recently, while a red example participated in the world-famous Rose Monday Parade in Cologne, Germany – which is notable given the fact that the EV crossover will be built at nearby Cologne Electrification Center. The new Ford Explorer EV is currently slated to launch this coming August, giving those in Europe the chance to bring home one of their own, too.
We’ll have more on this history-making trip soon, so be sure to subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Explorer news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
