Bob Tasca III has enjoyed his fair share of success in various Ford Mustang funny cars over the years, claiming an overall victory at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals in Minnesota in 2022 and his second NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Funny Car Wally at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas last year, just to name a few. More recently, Tasca III hopped behind the wheel of the brand new Mustang Dark Horse funny car and proceeded to record the fastest pass in drag racing history for a wheel-driven dragster with a scorching 341.68 mile-per-hour run during Q4 of the non-NHRA sanctioned PRO Superstar Shootout in Florida. Thus, it comes as no real surprise to learn that Ford Performance is extending its relationship with the successful driver.
Ford Performance will now serve as the primary sponsor for 10 races in the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, and as a supporting sponsor for the remainder of those events. Tasca III is a 15-time NHRA funny car winner whose family has long enjoyed a close relationship with The Blue Oval, as his grandfather – Bob Tasca – developed the original Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Lightweight platform that FoMoCo wound up producing in 1968, and he also coined the iconic phrase “win on Sunday, sell on Monday,” to boot.
“Bob’s relentless drive for success aligns perfectly with Ford’s commitment to pushing the limits of performance,” said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports. “Together, we will continue to chase victory and uphold the legacy of Ford’s racing heritage.”
“The support and resources provided by Ford have been instrumental in our success, and I am eager to build upon our achievements together in the years ahead,” Tasca III added. “With Ford Performance behind us, the sky’s the limit.”
