The Ford Ranger has long been a popular vehicle among shoppers and critics around the globe, recently winning accolades including 2023 South African Car of the Year, 2024 International Pickup Award (IPUA), and “Best Pickup” in the 2024 Parkers Van and Pickup Awards. Now, the Ford Ranger continues to add to its trophy case – along with the Ford Mustang Mach-E – in South America, where the EV crossover just joined the mid-size pickup after going on sale in both Brazil and Argentina recently.
There, the Journalists of the Automotive Industry bestowed awards on both the Ford Ranger and Mustang Mach-E as part of their annual PIA Awards, with the former being named as the best “Commercial Vehicle” on sale in South America and the latter topping the “Regional Auto/SUV” category. The winners of this year’s PIA Awards were selected by a jury of 25 automotive journalists, who spent the entirety of 2023 evaluating every vehicle on sale in South America.
2024 marks the 13th year that the PIA Awards have existed, and over that time span, Ford has accumulated more of those accolades than any other automotive brand – a total of 13, in fact. Martín Galdeano, president of Ford Argentina and South America, was on hand to accept both awards at Pronto Rótulo San Isidro.
“Receiving the PIA Commercial Vehicle of the Year award for our new Ford Ranger is the coronation of a 2023 of a lot of work and effort of the entire Ford Argentina team,” Galdeano said. “After an investment of $660 million in Pacheco, which will be completed this year with our new engine plant, today, we offer the most modern pickup in the Argentine market and export 70 percent of our production to the entire region.”
We’ll have more Ford-related awards to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Ranger news, Mustang Mach-E news, and ongoing Ford news coverage.
