Over the past several months, the Ford Territory – which is basically a rebadged version of the Equator Sport sold in China – has launched in a number of global markets, including Vietnam, the Middle East, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil. As Ford Authority recently reported, that list was set to expand and include South Africa as well, and now, the modern crossover has officially launched in that part of the world as well.
The Ford Territory has actually arrived in South Africa a little earlier than expected after it was originally slated to launch there in the second quarter of 2024. There, the five-seat utility model can be had in seven exterior colors – Star White Tri-Coat, Panther Black Metallic, True Blue Metallic, Ruby Red Metallic, Lustrous Grey, Moonlight Blue Metallic, and Crystal Pearl White Metallic Tri-Coat. Customers can also choose from one of three trim levels – Ambiente, Trend, and Titanium.
In South Africa, the Ford Territory will be sold with just one powertrain option – the turbocharged 1.8L EcoBoost engine, which in this market generates 185 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. That powerplant is mated exclusively to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which drives the front wheels. Pricing for the South African Territory starts out at R610,000 ($32,336 USD).
“The Territory is an exciting addition to our South African lineup, with a modern design and advanced technologies that will appeal to young, smart, and connected customers,” said Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa. “With a commanding presence on the road, exceptional space, and practicality inside, and an extensive range of high-tech features, we expect the Territory to be a popular addition to the fast-growing small SUV segment in South Africa.”
We’ll have more on the Territory soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Territory news and continuous Ford news coverage.
