Ford Transit Connect Vans Are Still Available For Buyers

As Ford Authority reported back in August 2022, the Ford Transit Connect was officially discontinued in the U.S. after the automaker changed course and opted not to to build a next-gen version of the van at the Hermosillo Assembly plant in Mexico alongside the Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick. As such, the Ford Transit Connect was expected to exit the American market by the end of 2023, though it also lives on in Europe, albeit as a rebadged Volkswagen Caddy with the same drivetrain options and output. However, those in the U.S. that would like to purchase a new Ford Transit Connect still have the opportunity to do so – at least for now.

Production of the Ford Transit Connect at the Valencia Assembly plant in Spain ended in late December, but according to FoMoCo’s latest sales report, there were still 5,200 units either on dealer lots or in transit as of the end of February. A quick nationwide search also revealed that right now, around 1,772 units of the small van are listed in inventory at dealers across the U.S., meaning that those who want to scoop up a new Transit Connect still have the opportunity to do so for the time being.

Ford’s decision to cancel the Transit Connect in the U.S. stems from small van sales in the country, which have been in decline for some time now. This likely also played a big part in Ford’s decision to exit the U.S. market in that regard, while it continues to expand its full-size Transit lineup with the all-electric E-Transit and the Transit Trail, which is an off-road-focused variant also on sale in Europe that recently joined the automaker’s U.S. lineup as well.

Meanwhile, in Europe, the all-new Ford Transit Connect debuted for the 2022 model year and is available in a variety of configurations and with several powertrain options, including the recently-revealed plug-in hybrid variant.

Ford was stupid and inconsiderate discontinuing the Transit Connect. We have had ours for 6 years very happily and would buy another if it were possible. We have a large one also.
