Today, the Ford Transit remains the best-selling full-size van in the U.S. by a long shot, with a 38 percent market share as of the end of 2023. That’s been the case for a number of years now as well, with commercial customers opting to fill their fleets with Ford Transit vans time and time again. Recently, FoMoCo decided to celebrate a special milestone for its popular Transit model as well – it’s been 10 years since it launched in the U.S. – with the arrival of a revised E-Transit, as well as a look back at the past decade.
The Ford Transit came to be as the very first Blue Oval product to be developed in Europe in a collaborative effort between the company’s UK and German branches before making its debut in Britain in 1965. However, it didn’t crack the U.S. market until 2014, but just six months after production began, it was already the best-selling commercial van in America. By the end of 2016, the Transit was also outselling all vans – even mini-vans – and it hasn’t looked back since.
After selling more than a million Ford Transit vans in the U.S. over the past decade, FoMoCo has also expanded its lineup multiple times, most recently adding the all-electric E-Transit and the off-road-focused Transit Trail. Every one of those U.S.-bound Transits has been built at the Kansas City Assembly plant, and a whopping 99 percent of them are still on the road today, being used by a wide berth of industries, according to The Blue Oval.
“We’ve assembled more than 1.2 million Transit vans in the last 10 years, and 99 percent of Transits are still on the road, working hard for customers today,” said Tim Baughman, Ford Pro general manager. “It’s America’s bestselling commercial van because it’s Built Ford Tough, and businesses on every streetcorner rely on Transit to keep the country moving – from plumbing to carpentry and yes, delivery, too.”

💯 ❤️❤️
It doesn’t look so ughly in the first picture with the bigger tires and taller woof. But in real life it does look ughly. Terribly ughlee because that is the outdoor special version.
