The Ford Authority Take

Ford has been busy filing patents aimed at detecting and preventing medical conditions from occurring in its future vehicles as of late, with a list that includes ideas for a Chionophobia intervention system and an anti-motion sickness system, to name just a couple. This new patent keeps that trend going with a new idea of this type – this time, for a motion sickness detection feature that may be used in future Ford vehicles – but it’s a little different than the previously-filed anti-motion sickness system-related patent.

The older patent contains an idea for a method for preventing motion sickness that involves a system capable of determining the alignment of a vehicle occupant’s face. This would allow the system to change the content displayed on a screen inside the vehicle to match the orientation of the occupant’s face, which could prevent motion sickness from happening.

The person taking the test sits on a chair that’s on an incline and equipped with its own footboard, after which they attempt to bring the rod to the floor in a vertical position. According to Ford, around 45 percent of the population suffers from motion sickness – usually passengers in a vehicle – and this is just another proven way to test for it so that mitigation services can be implemented.
