This year marks 60 years since the Ford Mustang made its debut at the 1964 New York International Auto Show, which obviously calls for a bit of a celebration. The Blue Oval has several ways it plans to do precisely that – aside from the launch of the all-new S650 generation model – but a number of third parties are slated to do the same, hosting many parties and other events celebrating six decades of the iconic pony car’s existence. This list includes the 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals – the largest all-Ford show on earth – where a variety of special sub-events are planned for precisely that purpose.
For starters, a special collection of Ford Mustang models will be set up in Building T at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania fairgrounds, consisting of several legendary and historically important vehicles. Organizers are currently taking applications for this group, which is expected to include only the best of the best, with rare road-going and racing models present for participants to soak in. Additionally, Carlisle will feature one tent display showcasing every single year of Mustang production from the start to the present, which should be pretty cool to check out in person as well.
However, Carlisle isn’t just celebrating 60 years of the Ford Mustang at the 2024 Ford Nationals, but rather, it’s also highlighting 50 years since the Mustang II launched as well. The much-maligned yet hot-selling Mustang II will get its own special display as a result, highlighting some of the cooler variants produced over its handful of years in production.
Finally, 2024 also marks 40 years for Ford’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) group after the first SVO Mustang came out in 1984, and as such, the SVO Club of America will be on hand to display a number of those particular models as well. It certainly seems like the 2024 Carlisle Nationals will be a must-see for pony car fans in general, who can now secure their tickets for the event, which kicks off May 31st and runs through June 2nd.

Very cool!
Why would you ignore MUSTANG CLUB OF AMERICA and the 60th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION in Birmingham, AL? A SHOW & TRACK EVENT with 3000 FORD MUSTANGS.
Why don’t they recognize all the Mustang events nationally. I was in NYC for the intro in 1964. I was also at the Indy 500 for Ford’s first win there. Also in 62 when Ford originally went there and owned the entire old Tower Terrace section for company and dealers to be seated together.
