The NASCAR Ford teams posted decent results at Phoenix Raceway on March 10th, 2024, chasing the No. 20 Toyota TRD Camry of Christopher Bell across the line and quietly taking most of the top 10 when it was all said and done.
Chris Buescher threw his No. 17 Ford Mustang Dark horse after Bell’s Toyota as the laps ticked down, shaking the pack as he surged ahead to become the foremost Blue Oval finisher. While he finished 5.465 seconds behind Bell, Buescher was pleased with the performance of his race car.
“I didn’t quite see the 20 [Bell] there at the end, so I know they were lights-out,” Buescher said. “We have some work to do to get to that point. What thrills me is we were by no means perfect on balance, so we have a lot of room to make this thing better, which is awesome.”
Brad Keselowski got his best finish of the season, putting the No. 6 Mustang in fourth at the line, while Ryan Blaney’s No. 12 Mustang barely nosed in front of the No. 1 Chevy Camaro ZL1 of Ross Chastain for fifth. Michael McDowell’s No. 34 Mustang finished eighth, while Chase Briscoe finished ninth in the No. 14 Mustang.
The only non-Toyota driver to lead was the No. 38 NASCAR Ford of Todd Gilliland, who cycled into the race lead after a round of pit stops to lead 14 laps. He finished 17th.
