Zero Ford Ranger Pickups Were At Dealers Last Month

Following the arrival of the all-new Ford Ranger in several international markets, the redesigned pickup debuted for North America way back in May 2023. At that time, The Blue Oval stated that the 2024 Ford Ranger was scheduled to launch in the U.S. last summer – at least, models equipped with the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost, with variants packing the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost expected to follow suit in the fall. However, now that we’re nearly into April, while a number of 2024 Ford Ranger pickups continue to be built at the Michigan Assembly plant, none had been sold, as least as of the end of February. Now, according to Ford’s latest sales report, we know why this is the case.

As of the end of February, zero new Ford Ranger pickups were either in transit or sitting on dealer lots, at least according to The Blue Oval’s own data. Of course, it’s possible that there were some Rangers on lots, but this also helps explain why none were sold last month, too.

This phenomenon won’t last much longer, however, as the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger began shipping roughly two weeks ago. The 2024 Ford Ranger features a number of notable changes – including perhaps the biggest in the debut of the high-performance Ranger Raptor powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 EcoBoost, which will be sold in the U.S. for the very first time after existing in international markets for years now.

In addition to new styling inside and out, coupled with a handful of other major changes, the 2024 Ford Ranger nearly matches the EPA fuel economy ratings of its predecessor, as Ford Authority recently reported. However, all of this new goodness also comes at a cost, as the new Ranger is more expensive across the board – though in some cases, that increase can be attributed to the presence of more standard equipment.
