1986 Ford Bronco Has F-150 Raptor R V8 Under Its Hood: Video

Throughout its long and illustrious history, the Ford Bronco has been treated to its fair share of engine swaps, and that even applies to the newer sixth-generation model – at least, on a limited basis, as of now. However, one particular combination we hadn’t yet seen is the same supercharged 5.2L V8 present in the Ford F-150 Raptor R nestled under the hood of an older Ford Bronco – at least until now, as that’s precisely what powers this 1986 model featured in a recent video from the folks at Texas Speed Lab Performance.

Given the fact that the crate engine version of this powerplant just launched last week, it’s likely that the one powering this Ford Bronco was lifted from an actual Raptor R, though that’s not disclosed in the clip. Regardless, this ’86 SUV is a pretty comprehensive build, riding on a 2013 Ford F-150 chassis with a long travel suspension, a first-gen Raptor aftermarket front bumper, auxiliary lighting, and Raceline beadlock wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich rubber.

Clearly built as some sort of serious off-road toy, this Ford Bronco is also packing Deaver sleeves, Fox internal bypass shocks, an aluminum gas tank, King bump stops, and other goodies underneath. The interior is fitted with a full roll cage, Dakota Digital gauges, a Fun Haver wheel, carbon fiber paddle shifters, and PRP Elite seats.

Of course, the big news here lies under the hood, however, where one will find a supercharged 5.2L V8 sourced directly from a Raptor R. It isn’t stock either, and has been treated to a ported supercharger from Joker’s Performance, along with a BMP Apex lid, a Whipple intercooler, a 90mm throttle body, CNC-ported heads, and even an Aluminator short block – meaning that it likely pumps our far more power than a “regular old” Raptor R.
