Over the past several months, the Ford Explorer has joined a host of other models offered in the 1990s and 2000s that is quickly seeing a rise in terms of collector interest – and values. We’ve seen a host of nice Ford Explorer SUVs surface for sale at collector car auctions as of late, including a 1995 Sport with 23k miles, a 1998 Saleen XP8, a 1999 model with 53k miles, and even a 2000 Mountaineer – the Explorer’s Mercury-badged counterpart – with a mere 22k miles on the clock. Now, those in the market for a more luxurious model can get it in the form of this 2000 Ford Explorer Limited that’s up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.
This particular Ford Explorer has remained in the family of the original owner since new, and has a relatively low 62k miles showing on the odometer. As such, it remains in like-new condition with stellar White Pearl Clearcoat Metallic paint and 16-inch alloy wheels, with no major flaws noted in the auction listing, either.
The same goes for the cushy interior of this SUV, which features Medium Prairie Tan leather covering the steering wheel, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and split-folding rear bench, which is coupled with woodgrain trim accents throughout the cabin. There are also quite a few amenities present here, including cruise control, automatic climate control, an onboard computer, Homelink, keyless entry, rear climate and audio controls, and the Mach audio system with a CD/cassette stereo.
Power for this 2000 Ford Explorer comes from the venerable 5.0L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to send 215 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox. As a well-equipped and luxurious version of the popular SUV, it’ll certainly be interesting to see if this Explorer manages to sell for anywhere near its original MSRP of $36,375, if nothing else.
