The last-generation Ford Thunderbird bowed out of the Blue Oval lineup quite a few years ago, but it remains a pretty common sight at online collector car auctions, regardless. This is especially true of unique and rare variants, such as the limited James Bond 007 Edition – of which just 700 were produced – and we even saw the 2002 Supercharged T-Bird concept surface for sale back in February. This 2002 Ford Thunderbird now up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is just a regular, run-of-the-mill T-Bird, but it also has a mere 54 miles showing on the odometer, which makes it rather special as well.
The seller’s grandfather bought this Ford Thunderbird new in Connecticut, but he clearly didn’t drive it much – if at all – since then. As such, this T-Bird is in basically brand new condition with one mere paint imperfection showing on its Inspiration Yellow finish, though otherwise, it’s essentially perfect.
The same goes for the contrasting yellow and black interior, which is in like-new condition and full of amenities that include a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, leather seats, brushed aluminum trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD changer.
Power – as is the case with every Ford Thunderbird from this generation – comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.9L V8, which was originally rated to generate 252 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. That V8 is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels, and underneath, the T-Bird features a four-wheel independent suspension and ventilated disc brakes. Overall, this is easily one of the nicest last-generation Ford Thunderbird models we’ve seen pop up for sale in a long time, and that should be enough the convince more than a few folks to place a bid on it, we imagine.

45 MILES on the clock, that’s great. I purchased a 2002 Ford T Bird, from a local dealer. I kept it for 7 years, the milage was 7594. The car was kept garaged & had never been in the rain. Changed the Oil & filter every year, & took it to the dealer for a once over about every year. It Was torch RED, Black interior with a White hard top with Port Window. Black Soft convertible top, PLUS I HAD WHITE WALL TIRES PLACED ON THE CAR. Talking about missing my BIRD., My wife & I do., ( she works at a Local Auto Auction) so we see these T-birds every now and then.
Bring it back. What a great car.
