The one-year-only 2002 Lincoln Blackwood may have been seen as a colossal failure at the time, but these days, the luxurious pickup is viewed more as a vehicle that was far ahead of its time. As such, collector interest in the Blackwood is on the rise, as are the number of nice examples we’ve seen up for auction as of late. That includes a trio of models with low-miles – totals of 24k, 30k, and 44k, to name just a few. Now, we can add this 2002 Lincoln Blackwood to that list, as it’s currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with just 32k miles showing on the odometer.
As one of around 3,300 Blackwoods produced in total, this luxurious pickup is notable enough, but it also remained in the possession of the original owner until October 2023, when the seller acquired it. Regardless, it certainly hasn’t been driven much over the past two-plus decades, and as a result, it still looks to be in excellent condition. All Blackwoods left the factory with black paint, aluminum pinstripes, and a wenge wood appliqué on the bed, and in this case, there aren’t too many bones to pick – save for the fact that the rear load-leveling suspension has been disabled.
The same is true of the interior, which has the typical creased leather seats and other normal wear, as well as some damage to the upper portion of the dash. What one will find are all the of the typical amenities present in most modern Lincolns, including automatic climate control, cruise control, navigation, power-adjustable pedals, a rear center console, and a factory Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo with a six-disc CD changer.
All Blackwoods are powered by the naturally-aspirated Ford 5.4L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. With a clean, accident-free history and low miles, this particular Blackwood has a lot to offer its new owner, and likely at a big discount versus its original MSRP.
