The Ford Mustang Saleen S281 has existed across multiple generations of the iconic pony car, with each representing a solid collectible in today’s world. As such, we’ve seen everything from an ultra-rare 1996 Ford Mustang Saleen S281 to a 535-mile 2007 model to a “Barricade” police car from the movie Transformers hit the auction block over the past few years. Now, that trend continues with this new auction listing – a 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen H281 that’s up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.
This 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen H281 has just 11k miles on the clock and is reportedly one of just 49 coupes produced in this particular model year. The “H” portion of H281 stands for Heritage, as one might have guessed, which means that it features some pretty cool retro-style items like Grabber Orange paint, blackout graphics, a rear wing, a Saleen windshield band, 281 Heritage badging, quad exhaust outlets, and the optional Heritage quarter-window panels and rear-window louvers.
Along with 18-inch Saleen five-spoke wheels, Saleen-specific springs, N2 dampers, and sway bars, this H281 is also equipped with embroidered Saleen logos and badging inside the cabin, coupled with amenities such as air conditioning, power windows and locks, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a rear window defroster, and the Shaker 500 audio system.
Power for this rare pony car comes from the Ford 4.6L V8, which in this guise has been treated to Saleen Powerflash engine-management software, a harmonic damper, underdrive pulleys, and a Saleen Heritage dual exhaust system. It was factory-rated to generate 330 horsepower and 345 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. In great shape with low miles and as number 47 of just 49 built, this Ford Mustang Saleen H281 should prove to be a hot commodity at auction, we would imagine.
