The Lincoln Nautilus was just treated to a full redesign for the 2024 model year, but used examples have often been lauded as excellent buys for savvy shoppers looking to save a little money, too. In fact, the luxurious model previously ranked as the top mid-size crossover in J.D. Power’s 2022 Initial Quality Study (IQS), and also as one of the most reliable three-year-old vehicles by Consumer Reports just this past January. However, that praise seemingly doesn’t extend to the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus, specifically, which Consumer Reports called a vehicle “to avoid” just last year. Now, that same model has once again been highlighted by the consumer organization in the latest version of that same report.
To come up with this list, Consumer Reports looked back at its own road test evaluations, as well as data from its Annual Auto Surveys from members, which contains average problem rate data for each model. After determining the most unreliable or undesirable vehicles in this group, the organization then presents shoppers with a better choice, which is a similar vehicle with superior reliability ratings and owner satisfaction scores, as well as an “under the radar” alternative that isn’t quite as popular, but a good alternative, nonetheless.
In that regard, the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus made the list of luxury SUVs to avoid for the second straight year, mostly due to its poor reliability ratings, which is quite common with first-year models. As Consumer Reports notes, this is truly unfortunate, because otherwise, the Nautilus is “a good SUV” overall. CR praised the crossover’s comfy ride, quiet cabin, agile handling, effortless acceleration, and abundance of technology, also noting that the 2020 model year offers far better reliability. Otherwise, it’s only knock against the 2019 Nautilus is its “unintuitive” push-button gear selector.

Any SUV should be avoided.
Is there any ford vehicles with zero intrest on any thing? Thanks
Ford should bury Lincolin and get it over with, its on life support.
Name the exact problem you have. If you can’t be specific then keep your comments to yourself.
We love our Lincoln. Ope the brand thrives.
…hope the brand survives.
My wife loves her 2019 Nautilus. Ordered 20″ rims so we could get some tires with some deeper tread on them so it better in snow or fields. The 21″ it came with do not have a tire other than the standard road type tire.
That would be my only complaint.
I have a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT with only 82,000 miles on it and aside from an air conditioning compressor which has seals that will naturally dry out like old tires I still love my truck. Admittedly in that year it was listed as the most American content vehicle available so I picked it because that was the beginning go the Great Recession and I felt some sense of duty> Yes some of us Americans with a sense of loyalty are still around but now Lincoln makes the Nautilus in China while complaining that Chinese EVs will kill sales. The linc0oln Navigator’s seats were picked by Consumer Reports as the most comfortable seats available a couple years ago but still no hybrid so I got a new Hummer. It’s air ride and tall sidewall tires make it the most comfortable car that I’ve ever owned. Still I would have preferred at least a Lincoln Hybris as they are more classy looking.
