Over its handful of years in production, the most recent generation of Ford GT was built in scant quantities, only sold to pre-approved buyers, and now, has officially been discontinued. That combination of factors has led to a true boom in terms of Ford GT values, with many of them trading for north of a million dollars these days. This is especially true of limited-edition variants such as the Ford GT Carbon Series, which features an array of lightweight components, and now, that’s precisely what has surfaced for sale yet again at Bring a Trailer.
This 2021 Ford GT Carbon Series has a mere 15 miles showing on the odometer and was purchased new by the seller at Gene Butman Ford in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It’s finished in Triple Yellow Tri-Coat and is equipped with the Exterior Carbon Fiber and Carbon Graphics packages, which helped shave around 40 pounds of weight thanks to features including exposed carbon-fiber stripes, titanium lug nuts, gloss carbon-fiber wheels, and a polycarbonate engine cover with increased ventilation.
That theme continues inside the cabin, where one will find Carbon Alcantara-covered Sparco seats with silver accent stitching and manually reclining carbon-fiber shells, along with exposed carbon fiber present on the steering wheel, dash, center console, door panels, and side sills. There are also plenty of amenities such as a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and cruise control.
Power for this and all newer Ford GT models comes from an enhanced version of the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 660 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the rear wheels via a Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and in this case, the engine breathes through an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system. Bidding on this limited GT Carbon Series has quite literally exploded since it was listed, and as such, it figures to be the next big ticket sale in a long line of them.
