Earlier this year, The Blue Oval was building and stashing large numbers of 2024 Ford F-150 and Ford F-150 Lightning pickups at various locations around the Detroit area, which we later learned was due to routine quality checks for the refreshed ICE model and an issue discovered with the EV pickup’s headlights that has since been corrected. Shipments of the 2024 F-150 just began in late February, but it has thus far been unclear when 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning models might follow – at least until now, as the automaker has announced that those shipments have begun, too.
2024 Ford F-150 Lightning shipments are indeed underway as we speak, and online ordering for the EV pickup has opened up as well. However, as Ford Authority previously reported, with demand for EVs in general falling behind expected levels as of late, FoMoCo is scaling back its planned production for the 2024 model year from 3,200 units to 1,600.
Regardless, entering its third year of production, the EV pickup has been treated to a host of notable updates for the new model year as well, starting with the introduction of two new variants – the Flash – which comes equipped with all the tech goodies most customers want, as well as the extended range battery at a more reasonable price – along with the Platinum Black, which features a matte black vinyl wrap and a host of darkened elements. The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning is also gaining a standard heat pump to reduce range loss in colder temps, but is ditching two configurations – the Lariat with the standard range battery, and the XLT with the 312A equipment group.
2024 Ford F-150 Lightning – April 5 Prices | 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning – January Prices | + / – January Prices | |
---|---|---|---|
Pro | $54,995 | $54,995 | $0 |
XLT | $62,995 | $64,995 | $-2000 |
Flash | $67,995 | $73,495 | $-5500 |
Lariat | $76,995 | $79,495 | $-2500 |
Platinum | $84,995 | $84,995 | $0 |
Meanwhile, most of the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup was also recently treated to a round of price cuts. These reductions are rather significant, save for the work-focused Pro, which remains unchanged at $54,995 and the range-topping Platinum, which stays put at $84,995. Otherwise, the XLT is getting a $2,000 price cut to $62,995, followed by the Lariat, which is $2,500 cheaper at $76,995, and the Flash will be $5,500 cheaper with a starting price tag of $67,995.
We’ll have more on the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for 24/7 Ford news coverage.

Lightening is junk, always has been. Consumer Reports just rated EVs much less reliable than ICE vehicles, says it all.
