2024 Shelby Super Snake Debuts As Tuner’s First S650 Mustang

Other than death and taxes, if there’s one thing we can always count on, it’s the fact that a wide array of parts, accessories, and full-blown turnkey Ford Mustang offerings are bound to surface every time the iconic pony car is treated to a refresh or redesign. This is also true of the all-new, 2024 model year S650 generation Mustang, as Saleen has already unveiled both the White Label and Black Label variants, and now, those two models have been joined by the 2024 Shelby Super Snake – the legendary brand’s first S650 Mustang build.

As has historically been the case, the all-new 2024 Shelby Super Snake offers pony car fans a variety of upgrades in every department, starting on the outside with a wider front fascia and unique grille, front splitter and splitter wickers, an aluminum Super Snake hood, hood pins, carbon fiber hood extractors, carbon fiber wide body front fenders with vents, a rear ducktail spoiler (or carbon fiber Super Snake wing for coupes), a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and Super Snake stripes and badging. The look is capped off by a set of forged magnesium wheels, and customers can choose from six base colors and four stripe options, to boot.

The same goes for the interior, which has been treated to a host of Shelby-branded items such as the floor mats, shifter ball (for manual transmission models), door sills, the serialized dash plaque, and puddle lamps, and on drop tops, a convertible light bar. Of course, all of these nice visual upgrades are accompanied by a big performance boost, too.

That stems largely from a supercharger system for the 5.0L V8 Coyote powerplant, which is coupled with Shelby’s extreme cooling system and a Shelby/Borla exhaust, resulting in a significant output of at least 830 horsepower, according to the tuner. To ensure that this power can get to the ground effectively, the 2024 Shelby Super Snake also features performance half shafts, a one-piece driveshaft and short throw shifter for manuals, hardened extended wheel studs, and unique Shelby performance-spec tires.

The 2024 Shelby Super Snake is available in both coupe and convertible configurations for GT models with the 401A Performance Pack, but production will be quite limited. In fact, Shelby only plans on building 300 units for the U.S., and an unspecified number for the rest of the world in the 2024 model year. For now, pricing has yet to be announced, but we imagine that as has historically been the case, the Super Snake will have its fair share of suitors, no matter what it winds up retailing for.

If I’m not mistaken, I was under the impression the Shelby Super Snake debuted as a 2025.
