The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD debuted back in August 2023 as what The Blue Oval promises will be the most hardcore pony car ever to grace this earth, a machine that is quite literally a street-legal race car – as well as one that, in many ways, is more serious than its track-only counterpart, the GT3. Thus far, The Blue Oval has faced tremendous demand for the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, which may prompt it to extend the planned 2,000-unit production run of that ultimate model, as Ford Authority exclusively reported last October. Last month, Ford Authority also exclusively reported that the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD application window was set to open in Q2 of this year, and now, that’s precisely what has happened.
Not only has The Blue Oval launched its official 2025 Ford Mustang GTD landing page, but also, the automaker has created a special online application form for the supercar as well. However, at the moment, only those that reside in the U.S. or Canada will be able to apply for the privilege of purchasing this $325k machine, and they can do so until May 20th at 11:59 p.m. EST, which is when the window to do so closes. Customers in Europe, Mexico, and the Middle East will get their chance to apply for a Mustang GTD in June, while dealers will get $15k for every example they sell, as Ford Authority recently reported.
After this process is complete, production of the limited-edition 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is expected to begin for North America either late this year or early next year. For their extra large outlay of cash, buyers will get a car that offers up far more performance than any production Mustang ever has in a number of ways aside from its eye-watering price tag. Designed to take on the cream of the European sports car crop, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is aiming to become the fastest road-going pony car ever built, in fact.
Ford plans to lap the legendary Nürburgring in less than seven minutes with the new GTD, a goal that seems achievable given its extensive use of carbon fiber and aero tricks, coupled with the 800 horsepower output from its special supercharged 5.2L V8, a near 50:50 weight distribution, and a host of suspension upgrades including a short-long arm front setup, an integral link pushrod and rocker arm rear suspension, and inboard Adaptive Spool Valve shock absorbers and coil springs.
We’ll have more on the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Mustang news and continuous Ford news coverage.
