Over the past few years, Bob Tasca III has enjoyed plenty of success in various Ford Mustang funny cars, claiming an overall victory at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals in Minnesota in 2022 and his second NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Funny Car Wally at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas in 2023, just to name a few. More recently, Tasca III hopped behind the wheel of the brand new Mustang Dark Horse funny car and proceeded to record the fastest pass in drag racing history for a wheel-driven dragster with a scorching 341.68 mile-per-hour run during Q4 of the non-NHRA sanctioned PRO Superstar Shootout in Florida. This prompted Ford Performance to extend its relationship with Bob Tasca III just a couple of weeks ago, and now, that decision is already paying dividends.
That’s because the drag racer brought home his first Wally of the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season at this past weekend’s Four-Wide Nationals held at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. At the same time, Tasca III was the only driver at this particular event to crack the three-second barrier during the first round of qualifying and had the fastest trap speed of the day – 333.91 mph.
Taking a more conservative approach at the start, Tasca III won his first quad lane race with a 3.92 at 333.08 mph, then finished second to Austin Prock with a 3.922 at 333.91 mph in the second round. Moving into the final, the Ford Performance driver had to once again face Prock, along with Matt Hagan and Ron Capps. Tasca III proceeded to rip off a stellar .034 reaction time and provided a thrilling win by a tiny margin of just .0096 seconds – which netted him the victory even though he ran a slower ET than his trio of competitors.
“[Ford] is the only reason why we’re here,” Bob Tasca II said after the race. “At the end of the day, we compete to win. I owe everything to the Ford Motor Company. It’s the ultimate honor – privilege – to be able to represent Ford nationally, globally, with their fans, dealers, and employees that believe in us. To be the last man standing with the trophy…it’s why we do it.”

Another record not mentioned in the story is that Bob used the ‘hole shot’ in all three rounds. Outstanding.
Is there a Ford part in/on it?
