Following its debut a few years ago, the all-electric Ford E-Transit has faced strong demand everywhere it’s sold, topping the sales charts on a regular basis – with a list of markets that continues to expand as well. The 2024 Ford E-Transit is fresh off receiving some updates in both the U.S. and Europe, including more usable battery capacity and range, as well as the addition of a passenger van variant for the latter region. The Ford E-Transit launched in Brazil earlier this year, and has enjoyed tremendous success in that country as well, with new variants being added to the lineup already. Now, Ford has shared some data that shows just how many Brazilian commercial customers have taken to the EV van, too.
Though it just recently began deliveries following a successful trial run, Ford has already sold 300 E-Transits in its first full month on sale there. That test included a total of 10 e-commerce and logistics companies, which racked up over 60,000 kilometers in 11 vehicles across Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, helping the automaker learn more about how customers in South America would use the van, but also, it demonstrated to those customers that electrification has several benefits to offer – such as lower operating costs than ICE equivalents.
Currently, the Brazilian Ford E-Transit is sold in the van configuration as well as a chassis cab, giving customers more flexibility in that regard. Both versions are equipped with a 198 kW (269 horsepower) electric motor, and offer up to 317 kilometers of driving range on the WLTP cycle.
“E-Transit is the market leader in Europe and the United States, where it has sold more than 30,000 units,” said Guillermo Lastra, director of Commercial Vehicles at Ford South America. “It has unique characteristics of performance and technology. In addition, Ford Pro gives full support to E-Transit’s customer so that he has maximum productivity and financial return in the transition to the electrification of his fleet.”
