In recent weeks, The Blue Oval has rolled out a number of new incentives that are aimed specifically at owners of vehicles from other brands. These conquest-type offers include one enticing owners of 1995 and up Chevy Camaro, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger models to purchase a new Ford Mustang, as well as two pertaining to the Ford Bronco – one aimed at Jeep owners, and other reserved for Subaru owners in the Seattle area, specifically. Now, the automaker is looking to convert Tesla owners into Ford F-150 Lightning owners as well, according to a dealer bulletin recently seen by CarsDirect.
This new incentive – officially called Tesla Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash – offers existing Tesla owners an additional $1,500 off the price of a new Ford F-150 Lightning, which applies to all trims of the EV pickup. There aren’t too many restrictions pertaining to this deal either, only that customers must currently own or lease a 2008 model year and up Tesla vehicle of some sort, and they can even transfer the offer to anyone that lives in the same household.
This deal is also stackable with other current incentives, which means that Tesla owners could save as much as $14,000 on the purchase of a new Ford F-150 Lightning, if they opt for the range-topping Platinum, which currently features $12,500 in Retail Bonus Cash. Otherwise, incentives range from $5,000 for the Lariat trim to $7,500 for the XLT with the extended range battery. For those that have grown tired of waiting for a Cybertruck, this could prove to be a solid alternative, regardless.
On the flip side, Ford also recently slashed its planned production output for the F-150 Lightning amid growing inventory and slowing demand. The automaker cut its staff at the Rogue Electric Vehicle Center – which builds the EV pickup – by around two-thirds as a result of that move, shifting some of those workers to other nearby plants at the same time.
