Following its debut in the U.S. for the 2022 model year, the Ford F-150 Lightning has since launched in other, select parts of the world, including EV-friendly Norway. However, as Ford Authority reported roughly a year ago, that list won’t include Australia – at least not officially – as FoMoCo has no plans to export the Ford F-150 Lightning to that particular country. Even though the Ford F-150 is on sale in Australia, the reasoning behind this pertains to the automaker’s desire to perfect its right-hand drive conversions of the ICE pickups, which are being completed by a company called RMA Automotive. However, those that live in Australia and covet a Ford F-150 Lightning can now get one, courtesy of an outfit dubbed AusEV.
AusEV is indeed bringing Ford F-150 Lightning pickups to Australia and converting them to right-hand drive for that market with the help of Advanced Manufacturing Queensland. Customers can choose from either the standard range battery pack or extended range unit, and the company is offering a few options a well, including the Tow Technology Package, Max Trailer Tow Package, and a bed liner.
The independently converted Aussie Ford F-150 Lightning pickups are otherwise essentially identical to their American counterparts, and can be had in six exterior colors – Oxford White, Avalanche, Carbonized Gray, Rapid Red, Agate Black, and Antimatter Blue. Even though the pickups don’t fall under Ford’s official warranty, AusEV is giving customers a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year guarantee for its electrical components, along with five years of free service and roadside assistance, too.
As one might imagine, the Aussie Ford F-150 Lightning won’t exactly be cheap to procure, however. In fact, the standard range model starts out at $224,990 AUD ($144,792 USD) minus on-road costs, while the Lariat comes in at $254,990 AUD ($164,098 USD).
We’ll have more on the F-150 Lightning soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford F-Series news, Ford F-150 news, F-150 Lightning news, and non-stop Ford news coverage.
